Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

Today, I was doing school when my mom told me to come down to look at this bird. She said it looked a little bit like a Downy Woodpecker flitting around one of our trees. I look at it through binoculars and thought to my self,”The beak is to long. The body is too big. Weird feather patterns. Wow, a white wing bar!” Luckily the bird stayed in our yard for a while, so I could observe it in flight. And sure enough, while it was in flight, I saw a yellow belly. I then consulted my Sibley’s Guide, and concluded that it was a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.
